Pomfret fish in Bengali Roopchanda fish is very popular. In my childhood our chef used to make pomfret deep fried or stir fried which we loved to eat with afternoon tea. It is very popular in our country and also Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar as well. Cox’s Bazaar has a longest sea beach in the world.

So let’s check the recipe:

I cooked here Roopchanda in Tadoori Masala Style.

Ingredients:

Fish 1 kilo cut into cutlet pieces

Salt

Ginger paste 1 tsp

Garlic paste 1 tbsp

Onion 1 chopped

Mustard oil 3 tbsp

Olive oil 2 tbsp

Chili powder 1 tsp

Turmeric powder 1 tsp

Coriander powder 1 tsp

Cumin powder 1 tsp

Coriander seeds 1/4 tsp

Nigella seeds 1 tsp

Coriander leaves 3 tbsp for garnish

2 green chili for garnish

Capsicum 1/2 cup cube cut

Lemon wedges 3/4

First step:

This cooking has two steps. Firstly need to marinate the fish. Add all powder spices with 2 tbsp mustard oil and marinate for at least half an hour.

Step 2:

In a pan heat olive oil and add all cutlets and fry each side 5 minutes. Add all whole spices and fry with fish pieces for 3 minutes. Then add capsicum and fry for your to 3 minutes. In between need to check it so that it will not burn in the bottom. Non stick pan is very good for that kind of food. Finally a dd coriander leaves and green chili. Add 1 piece lemon juice on the top of this cooked fish.

Ready yummy Pomfret tandoori masala style fry.
